Orbiting Carbon Observatory Launch Failure

Bugger. The Orbiting Carbon Observatory failed to pop out of the rocket nosecone.

Well, if the science is indisputable and the consensus amongst scientists total, what do they need this observatory for?

It is amazing how quickly this issue became so politically sensitive after so many years of grumbling in the background as a non-issue. I also find it irksome how scientists aren't permitted (socially) to put forward different theories and attempt to test them.
